Vulvodynia is a condition in which there is a pain in the vulva region. This pain can be spontaneous or it also can be caused due to touch. It is currently not known to the medical field why is this issue caused. In vulvodynia, the research tells us that the endings of the nerves under the skin of the vulva region become more sensitive than usual. This, in turn, sends signals that are more deviant than normally received by the brain. The sensation that is caused by this condition is similar to a burning sensation. Stinging or raw discomfort are also included in the sensations that are felt in Vulvodynia. This condition occurs in approximately 15 out of 100 women. This condition is not transmissible, and it also has nothing to do with the woman’s hygiene or the products that are used to maintain hygiene. The pain sometimes is also felt at the inner thighs or in some cases, buttocks. The pain sometimes is only felt in the small region of the vulva, but it can also occur in the whole vulva region.
